Interview Skills Training

On Thursday 12th June CAP Job Club for Penwortham/Lostock Hall ran an interview skills session as part of its Steps to Employment course.

15 people, a mix of volunteers, trained Job Coaches and Job Club members, took part in an afternoon focussed on sharpening up their job interview skills. The session, part of a 6 week “Steps to Employment” course gave, Job Club members examples of a really good interview and a terrible interview.

There was also opportunity for people to prepare for forthcoming interviews by thinking through answers to 12 commonly asked interview questions. Job Club members shared tips, experience and encouragements from recent past interviews and Job Club coaches are available to run mock interviews giving people an invaluable opportunity to practice.

One important thing in any interview is making a good impression. To help with this we encouraged all Job Club members to ‘Dress for Success’. So it was smart suits, shirts and blouses for everyone.

The CAP Job Club is jointly run by King’s Church, Penwortham in partnership with Calvary Christian Fellowship, Lostock Hall and the Job Club offers drop in sessions on Thursday and Friday mornings at two different locations and also the “Steps to Employment” course.
