Job Club is a credit to the church, says community

The people of Penwortham have welcomed a church club aimed to help residents improve their employability in tough economic times.

CAP Job Club run by Kings Church in Penwortham  is a service devised by charity Christians Against Poverty which trains churches to help equip people with the tools and skills to find employment. Mark Willett the CAP Job Manager commented “ over the past 12 months we have helped over 50 people to begin to make steps to employment we have a great team of volunteers who help residents who are actively seeking work, but need that extra boost of support and help”

One of the recent club attendees Ruth Park said: “It was fantastic. It has gave me the skills and the confidence I needed to apply for jobs and I managed to secure my dream job working in a coffee shop with a bakery. I love my new job, I’d like to thank Kings Church for putting this on and say to anyone else, go to the  Job Club  and get the help to get back into employment”

Ruth attended the CAP Job Club six  week “Steps to Employment  course” covering topics such as identifying strengths, CV writing and interview techniques.

Mary Frazier the owner of “Chat n Snack” in Penwortham said “ I was so impressed with Ruth enthusiasm and desire to get back into work and within a few minutes I just knew she was the best person for the job, and since starting she has been so eager to learns,  she has been a great asset to the business.”

Pastor of Kings Church Mike Faun said: “It’s been a great privilege for the Job Club Team who are volunteers to put this on for the people of Penwortham and give them practical tools and techniques to help them back into employment, we’re glad to say we’ll be repeating the Steps to Employment Course again after Easter so we’d urge you to get in touch if you’re wanting to get help with job hunting.
