Breaking News – The Work Club release details about their new workshop programme starting on Thursday 4th October 1.30 – 3.00pm

The Work Clubs new programme of workshops start on Thursday 4th October the Club is working with its partners Passionate about Performance, Eaves Brook Housing Association and South Ribble Borough Council. Mark Willett The Work Club Co-ordinator said

“we are delighted to have worked with our partners to produce an exciting 4 week sessional programme, our team have also been working with local firms to design a sessions which provides a cutting edge insight into what recruiters are looking for. Local firms have been sharing their tips with the team and we have incorporated them into the programme together with video footage with local managers giving a unique insight into what they are looking for in a potential employee”

Jeanette Bramble The Work Club trainer and presenter for the programme commented ” we have had lots of interest in the programme, and places are quickly filling up, let us know as soon as possible if you would like to enrol, the programme is free for people seeking employment. We will be running further courses during the next 6 months and of course people can attend our morning drop in ”   

All workshops are held at the Penwortham Community Centre on Kingsfold Drive

Workshop 1 – Thursday 4th October 2012: 1.30pm  – 3.00pm 

Who am I?

Understanding yourself –In this session you will explore:

Your values and motives – what is important to you when looking for a job, why do you want a job, why do you want a job in that occupational area etc.

Your working preferences – to enjoy what you are doing understanding your preferences can help you get a job that fits


Workshop 2 – Thursday 11th October 2012: 1.30pm  – 3.00pm 

What have I got to offer?

In this session you will consider how to:

Feel confident in the job market by  understanding what skills and experience you have to offer a prospective employer

Keep motivated by setting meaningful and realistic goals and planning actions to move you forward


Workshop 3 – Thursday 18th October 2012: 1.30pm – 3.00pm

During this session you will be given a CV overview (for more 1-1 support in creating a CV, come along to a Thursday morning session. You will find out:

What employers are looking for on a CV

What information is important on a CV

How to tailor your CV


Workshop 4 – Thursday 25th October 2012: 1.30pm – 3.00pm

Presenting myself in person

Come along and listen to what employers say about interviews.

Learn how:

to prepare for interviews, mentally, physically and emotionally

to present yourself for interview
